Celebrating musical excellence on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University since 1907, the Southeast Marching Band provides students educationally sound and fulfilling musical experiences. The University Marching Band is an important part of the tradition of the University. In fact, the Marching Band was formed just two years after the building of Academic Hall (1905), is older than both the Missouri State Flag (1913) and the University Alma Mater (1931). The Marching Band is the single largest student organization on campus.
The Marching Band performs at all home football games, on-campus spirit rallies, parades, and at selected high school marching band festivals.
The Marching Band is one of seven bands in the Department of Music at Southeast Missouri State University. Students in these ensembles represent virtually every academic area on campus and consistently maintain high academic and musical standards. Currently, the grade point average for Marching Band members is 3.28 and the average student academic load is over 15 credits per semester.
The Southeast Marching Band (MU386) rehearses on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4:00 pm to 5:50 pm during the Fall semester. Enrollment in Marching Band is required for participation. Rehearsals are held at the River Campus. Redhawks Football games are typically Saturday events. Home football games are held on the Main Campus at Houck Stadium. Each Fall semester, the Marching Band reports to campus one week prior to the start of classes for Early Week rehearsals.
Instrument Placement Auditions for the Drum Line and Front Ensemble take place during the first two days of Early Week rehearsals each Fall semester. Please contact Dr. Shane Mizicko for placement audition details ([email protected]).
